My name is Timothy Reid and I just recently caught my very first rainbow trout with my grandfather's favorite trout lure. You have probably never heard of the lure unless you are from the West Virginia area. It was a Joe's Fly #234 Trout Poacher. This lure has served my family very well for 50 years. For 3 generations this lure has been fished in my family. I am very ashamed to say that I am now 27 years old and just started fishing, but that is beside the point. The point is that these lures have been around for potentially 4 generations of fisherman.
My grandfather called my up just recently and asked me if I wanted to go fishing. To be honest, I really did not want to go, but, I did it anyway. He obviously does not have much time on this earth and I thought it was something that I should do. He told me that I only needed to give him a ride there and that he would have everything that I would need. The poles, the trout lures, and the beer.
When we arrived at the Tygart River in Grafton West Virginia I was really not too thrilled to be there. We walked down to his favorite bank to get set up. He had 2 poles that we both ready to be fished. I noticed that they both had the same trout lure on them. Not only that, he had at least 2 dozen of the trout lures in his tackle box. So I said "why such a wide selection of tackle?" being humorous obviously. He laughed and said that they were the best trout lure that money could buy. He said that they were called Trout Poachers by Joe's flies. He said it was the only lure that he and his son, my dad, had ever fished. So I preceded to cast the lure out into the river. I retrieved the lure fairly slow so that I could see the action on the spinner. To my amazement the blade seemed to spin extremely well. I cast out again and low and behold, I was then setting the hook into the lip of a 27 inch rainbow trout beauty. I now believed in the Trout Poacher trout lure.
Thanks Joe's!

I caught more rainbows (about 20) than anyone else on the boat... and we were trolling! I left my fly rod in my camper. Great lures and I am telling everyone!
Thank you,
